Candy Christmas Tree Centerpiece
Impress your family and friends with one or more of these beautiful candy Christmas trees. The one shown here was made using an 18" styrofoam cone, however, you can use whatever size you like. I've perched my cone on an antique Christmas tree stand by sticking a pipe through the bottom of my cone and setting it in the holder then tightening the screws, however, a fancy candle holder works well too. Just dab some glue (ready made canned frosting) on the bottom of your cone and set on top of your holder. Now you simply glue on your choice of candies with ready made canned vanilla frosting or you can color your frosting green with food coloring if you prefer. I used red and green hard peppermints, hard raspberries and gumdrops. The frosting will harden and set very quickly. I make my trees over the Thanksgiving weekend every year and they last well into the next year. Decorating various sizes of cones using all the same color gumdrops on one tree makes an exceptional display and old-fashioned rock candy makes an elegant, dramatic display. Be creative!! Kids love this project!!
